good backup for rechargables

It's a great battery but...
After the battery on my e46 BMW key fob seemed to stop working, I searched everywhere for a VL2020 battery that would be a perfect fit and replacement for the old one. Shipping time was amazing (it arrived in about 2 days) and when the battery arrived, it was a perfect fit the only problem was that the battery was dead. Now I'm aware that some of the batteries may be discharged upon arrival and you must follow the steps to recharge the battery but after leaving the battery in the car on the "On" position for over 8 hours, (not including all of the time the key was in the switch while I was driving) I had no luck. I am certain that that installation of the battery to the control board went on perfectly so I have to assume it is the battery. Still a great buy if your battery turns out to be somewhat charged.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

This Is The Battery You Want (E46, E60, E90)
Good price. Fit my 2006 330i E90 key like it said it would. Easy to solder old battery bracket out and solder this battery in by its 2 pins. The prongs on the side facing the circuit board are a bit fat close to the battery, so getting it in low enough to put the key back together required a little trimming. that said i would nit hesitate to buy another one if i needed one. Needs some modifying but works good
For e46 fob. Tab is too long so needs some precise snipping (sounds innocent, but it's a real pain because few people have precise nippers sharp enough for the surgical work). Most of your time will be spent on nipping the tab). Also, battery is completely dead so will need charging after the procedure. So plug key in ignition, put it in on position (don't start the car) then off position and leave overnight (Car won't charge key if you simply just insert it overnight).Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Be patient
This aint my first rodeo with this key system. You will need to be patient and follow some youtube instructions on opening the key and soldering it to the chip. At the end of the day you will need to get this thing charged 2 ways. 1. Hook up a battery tender to your car battery and turn the ignition on (do not need to start) and leave it on for a whole day (at least 8 hours-Can be more) 2. You can just put it in and drive....drive...drive...which can take forever...but it will eventually charge up.
