Assembled with a combination of plastic, rubber, and die-cast metal, and standing atop his electronic display base at a full 12 inches tall in robot mode, this fully poseable and highly interactive toy depiction of the Autobot leader is both fun for play and great on display. This exclusive 20th anniversary version of Optimus Prime is faithfully recreated here in his original Generation 1 appearance, the version first introduced to the world by Hasbro and Takara Toys in 1984, and comes with a number of fun, highly detailed blasters and other accessories seen in his various animated show, motion picture, and comic book appearances. In the spirit of the Transformers franchise, there’s “more than meets the eye” to this toy. The special 20th Anniversary edition action figure has the detailed modeling and paint job one would expect from a collector’s piece, yet its durability and multiple interactive features make it a great choice for play. Transform Optimus Prime to his truck mode, and lead his convoy of fellow robots-in-disguise as they patrol the world and protect it from the evil forces of the Decepticons. Tough rubber tires, transparent windshield, and die-cast details like the bumper, grill, smoke stacks, and hubcaps add an extra level of depth to Optimus’ original semi-truck cab disguise. Then, it is back to robot mode to battle the cruel Megatron, revealing painted-on scorch marks and battle damage. Fight from afar with his two blaster rifles, or get up close and personal with his clear plastic Energon Axe. These prop weapon accessories are held fast in place by the action figure’s hinged fingers. When the odds are stacked against him, Optimus Prime can flip open his wrist communicator, featuring an image from the Generation 1 animated series of his ally Bumblebee, and put out the call to all Autobots for aide. Finally, defend the Transformers’ home planet of Cybertron from the deadly world-eating Unicron, and open Optimus Prime’s windshield chest to reveal the source of his power – the removable Matrix of Leadership. Transformers MP01 Optimus Prime 20th Anniversary
For those searching for an affordable and well made MP Prime, you may want to skip this and buy the MP10 instead. This is an older product that while it was very good when 1st released its not holding up. I broke the gas tank on the right leg during transformation. The lower legs were stuck and I snapped the Tank. Yes my fault. I have bought 2 of these. I sold one years ago and then bought this one. Both are GOOD representations of Prime, not super accurate but this is what was available back then.. Build quality and paint are good. Transformation on this one was not smooth and not enjoyable, becuase I broke it the second time I transformed it. The accessories - axe and the gun/blaster. Both are decent. I recommend the figure to those that know that this isn't the end all figure of prime. So its a solid figure but remember durability may be an issue. Wonderful version of Optimus Prime!
I love the MP-1 mold Optimus Prime! He looks great with plenty of gimmicks. The only gripe I have is no trailer like the later released MP-4 Masterpiece Optimus Prime. But you can always just get an aftermarket iGear trailer for it off of here that is copied off of the MP-4 trailer. My only other gripe is the sound box that comes with him is not the original voice actor for the Generation 1 cartoon from the 80's and the recent live action movies which is Peter Cullen. But rather Ron Hayden who is a in house voice actor for Hasbro. However his Peter Cullen impressions are pretty good for the lines he says. Anybody who doesn't have an MP-1 old should get one. It is not as nice as the later MP-10 mold version but this one has more diecast in it and is still really nice looking. Well worth the money!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
