Expensive but the best value of any other A3 flatbed scanner!
The Epson 50000 is in a league all of it's own. We purchased four other A3 scanners prior to buying the Epson 50000 and all were disappointments. All of the other models were cumbersome, difficult to set up, had miserable software and gave poor quality scans. But not the Epson 50000! The Epson was very easy to set up. The software interface was a breeze and very easy to use to manipulate the scan resolution, color or size. The image quality was outstanding. Best of all the machine is VERY fast. On our Win 10 O/S you can take a full size A3 at 300 dpi resolution in less than 2 seconds! Unbelievable! Using a USB2 cord (included with the scanner) made the time it takes to have the image upload to our computer approximately 1 second! This is better than our regular scanner. If you are looking at getting and A3 don't waste your time with other manufacturers models. The other four A3 scanners we purchased were all a waste of time. They all had such crap software that the technical support staff for them all recommended that we buy 3rd party software (cost $100-$300) in order to improve the quality of the scans taken. Also other models we tested were much slower (about 15 seconds per scan) and the upload times were about 30-90 seconds at 300 dpi resolution! The only problems that we could tell with the Epson was that other online reviews have complained that after heavy use the scan belt is known to loosen and this effects the scan speed fractionally. Otherwise the build quality appears to be first rate with few if any issues we could find. Finally I should note that the Epson 50000 scanner does cost about 2-4 times what the other models we tested did. It is expensive compared to the competition but in our opinion it is well worth it as it delivers what the others are unable to.
