Solid Metal Build and Factory Eventually To Make Extra Containers for Multiple Primer Types

I bought this primer loader to ease my installation of primers away from a bench mounted installer unit. I eventually figured out, as probably many also did, that I wanted to have spare plastic containers for holding different types of primers. In other words, having those would make it as easy as doing a container switch to change to a different model or brand of primer. I research the loader and found what I believed was the maker (importer?) of the loader and asked them if making extra containers would be a good idea? Apparently they already had plans to make them available because the marketing CEO immediately replied that they will soon be available. With that, please keep checking and they will be out there someday. And no, I do not work for nor benefit in any way from Franklin Arsenal Products.

Could be better in terms of "perfect"

It seats small rifle primers well and accurately. The feed tray is nice, it's pretty durable. Hasn't jammed up and didn't double feed as of yet, with 300 primers seated through mine so far. But large rifle primers is a different story. You have to take your time and make sure your case is aligned with seater pin. There's some play between everything. The case in the shell holder, the shell holder in the tool and seating pin in the tool. Set it up right and you can have consistency. I primarily use this for my .223/5.56 reloading in mass amounts. Sit down and prime where ever you like.

  • Very high quality and easy to use.

I have used the old-style (round) Lee Auto Prime for 40 years. Over those years I have worn out and replaced most of the parts. I have two of them. One for Large and one for small. Each is now worn to the point they are problematic and Lee no longer have parts to support them. I would be inclined to buy the new model Lee, but I have heard too many complaints. I do a lot of loading (hand priming) and don't need the aggravation of a primer that does not work well. I just bought and used the Frankford Arsenal unit. This is a massive steel unit. The lever is pulled with the fingers, rather than the thumb, so a bit easier. The lever is longer than a Lee, so more leverage, too. It has a thumbwheel to adjust seating depth. A very nice touch. It uses a shell holder that appears to be the same shell holder that Lee makes for the AutoPrime. These shell holders are not the same ones you use in a press. It comes with a set of 12, so I appear to be GTG for all my calibers except 45AutoRim. This is the most expensive hand primer out there, and worth it. It works well and if I can get another 40 years out of it (like my Lee) the initial cost won't be an issue.

  • FRANKFORD ARSENAL HAND PRIMER

Fantastic product! Simple to use and I can feel the pressure used to seat each primer to ensure consistency. This replaced the priming function on my RCBS Rock Chucker. The difference is amazing and I should have upgraded long ago. The unit is designed so that if a primer where to ever go off during seating, the pressure is directed away from the user. I thought I’d get hand fatigue using a hand primer but far from it. I can easily prime 100 pieces of brass with no fatigue whatsoever. My primer pockets are uniformed so I don’t use the depth setting function but it’s nice to know I have that capability if I ever want to use it. This thing is VERY robust and I’m confident it will last forever. The other hand primers are probably OK and will function, but if you want a great product, get the Frankford Arsenal.

  • Great hand priming tool .

Great tool for the job . Allows easy fine seating adjustment on the fly. Kit comes good instructions, a nice case with 12 different die holders that cover approx. 200 common shell cases. Well made tool should last a long time with minimal upkeep. Well worth the investment.

  • Best priming tool you can buy!

I cannot imagine reloading without this tool! Well made, versatile and easy to use. This tool speed up my reloading time 100%! Also seats the primers perfectly, looks like a factory job when done. Best tool ever!! Highly recommended. Will last a lifetime!

  • Wish I had bought this years ago, best hand primer hands down!

precise adjustment, solid construction. I can adjust primer seating depth. The Lyman unit is nice but fails miserably at getting primers actually seated. Many calibers they are not even close to flush. The Lee unit is too fragile, but does work ok, but not as well as the Franklin. Don't be cheap, but this one first!

  • Best hand primer I’ve ever used

While a bit on the heavy side, this priming tool is of the highest build quality. The priming action is smooth, primers don’t get stuck like they do in lesser quality hand priming tools, the shell holders work well, and being able to adjust the seating depth is a real plus. Spend the extra $ and buy one of these.

  • HUGE UPGRADE

Love this priming tool! I had been using a Lee Auto-Prime very happily since the 1980s. But it left high primers that would jam my new revolver with tight tolerances - each primer then had to be seated deeper using a very tedious hand process. So, I ordered this Frankford Arsenal hoping it would solve my problem. It did. It is MUCH bigger and stronger than the old Lee (for which parts are no longer available), and it has a seating depth adjustment that works like a champ. Highly recommend this product, which I had bought on the recommendation of many others.

  • Perfect Feel of Primer Press

The perfect primer seater for the hand because you are able to get a firm feel of the primer being pressed into the primer bore. I once had called Franklin Arsenal to see if they could get another primer tray without the press for my use, but it kept being postponed until I gave up and just bought another one. One for large rifle primers and one for small rifle primers. As long as I do not get into pistol loads, then I have what I need. Awesome machine!
