  • Historic Music

I have been listening to this music since it was first released in 1959 when I was a senior in high school. Although I have listened to this music all through the years I have always enjoyed this music no matter where jazz has gone. Besides Miles' playing it is Adderly's playing that has stayed with me. It took me awhile to realize why and what it was that was in his playing that always drew me back. When you compare the different players it is Adderly's "bluesiness" that is the draw. I noticed that in Wynton Kelly's playing as well that "bluesiness" that also drew me back but Kelly is only on one track "Freddie Freeloader" a blues tune. Bill Evan's was the pianist on the other tracks and who adlibbed the intro to "So What". This was and is an historic album that was recorded in that "church" that Columbia recorded other famous albums in the late 1950s.
