Good product. Modified for base station use.
I am using the antenna for base station use on VHF frequencies. I modified it by pulling the cable out of the hole so it drops straight down through the metal ferrule. Then I mounted the antenna on a pole with metal clamps. I would not be able to do that with an antenna having a plastic mounting ferrule. Then I shortened the Shakespeare cable to one foot, installed the connector, and connected a long run of much better coax cable to minimize losses (note photo). The antenna hears very well and transmits well.

it simply worked.
It was a step up for the one my nephew broke grabbing to prevent fall into drink while washing. The S/S base connection was an improvement.
