Metal vs. Plastic fasteners.
This metal hidden fasteners are perfect for installing composite decking regardless of the brand of decking boards. I have also used the plastic fasteners but prefer the metal ones. Over an extended period I have noticed the plastic ones began to loosen and the deck boards have shifted. This is my own preference. Screws made of soft metal will strip quickly
The screws are made of a very soft metal, they strip almost instantly. This is a knockoff of the Phantom GT Hidden Fastener made by fiberon. Everything looks the same, except the screws are much worse. The metal is very soft and will strip out right away. I installed 5 boxes on the fiberon and ran out before finishing the deck. Then I bought these because I was in a pinch, needed them quick and they were cheaper. Should have spent the extra money on the real thing.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
