The Samsung Gear VR 2016...better than the rest for sure
The Samsung Gear VR 2016 is the best smartphone HMD that I've used for steam vr (using rift at and sideload vr). Better sensors in the HMD give a smoother performance than you can get out of Google cardboard and the ability to run and keep the phone charged is nice. Keep in mind that you have to have an official Samsung fast charge adapter for that feature to work properly. The usb cable can be different as long as it is a usb type-c female connection on the end that you will plug into the headset.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

VR Technology still young
Reviewing Samsung Gear VR i would say that Vr technology is still very young. Even Samsung Galaxys S6/S7 Edge screen resolution is not enough. You can clearly see the pixels even with high quality videos. It's not a device fault. It is what it is. That being said,it is certainly worth to try it since it is one of the best(if not the best) for mobile Vr experience. Prefer animated apps and videos.They look much better than real videos. Videos look better if downloaded and not streamed but still poor quality even with demo videos. No support an all video/audio codecs but it's a legal issue. Anyway watching movies on the device is highly NOT recommended due to very poor quality, no matter what. Limitation on Play Store Apps can be easilly overcome with a simple Google search but don't expect any miracles with Play Store Apps. Overall it's worthy trying the Gear Vr but not with great expectations. There are times when the experience is very immersive but that's not the case with the majority of apps and videos. I recommend buying the Gear VR 2016 only at a very good price.It is usally around 80$-100$ in stores so around half of it should be fine.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Cool, but could be way better
I like the idea and concept of this thing. Seeing some things in 360HD is kinda cool. Some changes- One: being able to reset the horizon. I wanted to watch movies lying down. Nope. You have to be upright. I don't want to sit up in bed to watch everything. Second: clear up the view. It looks like I am watching everything thru a screen window. You can almost get over it, but it is distracting. Third: make the round lenses larger. It is too easy to see the edges of the lenses when looking anywhere but the dead center. Larger lenses would fix issue four: move the larger lenses a little further from my eyeballs. They are close enough to be contacts. The heat from my eyes fogs up the lenses constantly. Otherwise it's still cool to use, fun to show friends and makes for a different experience.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Way Cool. Totally Different World
I've been paralyzed from the neck down for over 30 years and the VR glasses has opened up a whole new world for me. I am now able to ride roller coasters and do many things I thought was never possible. I would suggest everyone to get a set of these. Charging ports c vs. Usb mini
It was exactly what I was looking for. I have a 2016 version of the oculus, with a Galaxy 9+ phone. Obviously when they changed the charging port to C, my oculus came with the older connector (mini usb) and my 9+ didnt fit. But now i can enjoy my samsung gear vr oculus with no problems. Great if your phone is older than the Galaxy S20
Worked well with my older Galaxy S7, and S10. With my newer phone, apparently Samsung and Oculus parted ways, and you now have to dowload various "cardboard" apps instead of the very nicely done app that originally came with it. Now, the apps still work, they're just very kludgy, and not very well integrated with this headset.
