these are not hard to install and the cost of a new refrigerater is not a minor thing. you tube has complete easily followed instructions, you can watch them twice and find the bad part erasil with common hand toolsi used a screwdriver and a nut driver, this repair took less than twenty minutes and the cost was trivial. just remember to unplug it , review the help from google and you tube and you will find the best parts on ebay .Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Product not working properly.
Got unit. Installed unit. Cycles on, gets cold, cycles off, then, stays off too long and allows items in freezer to thaw and ice to melt. The size/ guage of the coil is smaller than the original unit. Unable to confirm this unit was the exact replacement unit required. I need help correcting this problem, ASAP. Please advise so I can take appropriate steps ( replacement unit, return unit for new correct unit.) Also, control knob doesn't fit the unit.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Save time and buy FSP parts - these are junk.
I've bought two of these from two different sellers. Both are junk. The first one cannot be adjusted - no matter where you set the knob the fridge temp is below freezing - 26 to 28 degrees. The second unit I ordered has the hole in the clip drilled/punched off-center so the knob cannot be installed - see photo. I have been repairing appliances for 45 years. Do yourself a favor and find a factory part - FSP parts are what you want. Sure, you might get lucky or you can even return a few of these to save a buck if you don't need your refrigerator right away, but how long will this unit last even if it works?

Got it, installed it in 10 minutes, refrigerator now cooling. One little glitch, the connections were in different spots than the old one. That caused a little confusion, since they aren't marked with any identification. I put the wires on with the top one from the old one on the highest connection on the new one and hoped. Excellent OEM Product!!
Was an original WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT. Took care of the issue with my fridge not cycling long enough to cool. I kept coming to a home with water all over the floor because the ice kept melting due to the short cooling cycles. After replacing this, the issue went away and my fridge is as good as new. Thermostat works! Wife Happy!
I installed the new thermostat in less than 15 minutes. The fridge started working right away, and all we had to do was adjust the controls to get it running at the desired temperature. I paid a bit more money but bought the OEM part. I figured the first one lasted 25 years, hopefully this one will last the same. It was just plug and play after removing a couple of covers. Thermostat sticking no more
Installed switch however the terminals are manufactured side by side instead of over under. Came in a sealed whirlpool bag. One lead marked L and the other marked C. Reading says it doesnt matter which hooks to which. Not sure what to think about that. Part removed said fsp , Replacement not.
