I do not know if they will hold up 8 lb or not, but are a long way ahead of the smaller anaemic ones I have had for years. I didn't think I would like the hooks, I thought they should be round like a cup hook, I have no complaints now. I used them all up in an hour and have ordered another package today. I used two to hang fly swatters, two to hang a log lifter for fire place/stove, one for a pair of pliers, two for pokers, one for a cast iron stove ash shovel. My wife got away with two, don't know yet what she used them for, pot holders I think. All this dust and you have not shipped the second package yet? Good Magnet for the price. Strong but does not hold 8 lbs. depending on where you place it. I put these on the side of my fridge which is painted textured and it isn’t as strong as the ones I put on unpainted galvanized metal which held better but still only holds a couple of pounds.
