Great for those with some mechanical aptitude and willing to work at a project
This is a good basic tool for the price. Understand that it won't turn you into a gunsmith, and you have to put in some time to understand the forces at play and the set-up needed to use it. For slab-sided slides like a Glock or 1911, it works great, especially if all you need to do is adjust the sight's position. If your job entails complete removal and replacement, especially of sights really set into place, more effort is required. The front of my Sig P226 has a step and taper on the sides of the slide, so I had to fashion some shims out of pennies in order to clamp on the flat portion at the bottom of the slide to remove/install the front sight. You have to work carefully in setting everything up, lest the slide twist in the clamp when torque is applied. A lot of force is employed to remove sights, and damage can result if you are not careful. If you have some degree of mechanical aptitude and enjoy a challenge, this tool will serve you well.
