The Intermatic ST01 has been around for quite a while. I have had a couple of them before but sold that house. prior to the ST01 I had a regular in wall astronomical timer but those had a problem with CFL bulbs that I was using. This timer has a different kind of switch inside powered by the battery that actually turns the devices on or off. This works for LED or CFL bulbs. The last one I just bought was used on ebay, for about half the usual list price which made it a great deal. There are instructions in PDF from Intermatic available and also numerous YouTube videos available. The programming is not real user friendly so need the instructions to be successful. I used mine in a three way switch application and works great.

  • Reliable switch with a replaceable battery

I use these switches to control various outdoor lighting. This is the third one of these I have bought. The first two have been in place for over two years and have worked flawlessly. This most recent purchase was to replace another brand that didn't have a replaceable battery. That battery had failed causing the switch to lose memory if the power dropped for more than a second. What I like about the Intermatic ST01 is that the battery is user replaceable. Incidentally, the original batteries in the first two units are still in place and working. Programming of the switch requires some attention to detail but is relatively easy once the battery is installed because the programming can be done before final installation. Installation may be difficult in some shallow boxes just due to the size of the switch.

  • Bought my third timer.

I started using similiar in wall timers years ago for outside lights. When I switched to cfl bulbs the bulbs flickered. The timers were not compatible. So I went to these timers because they were compatable and the flicker stopped. Cob led bulbs eventually replaced the cfl bulbs. I bought a third timer to replace the old electro mechanical timer in the garage. Once the programs are set I just need to replace the batteries every year or so.

  • Nice Timer

This is a very good timer. I am using it with LED lights, and it works well, Some of these timers do not work with LED lights. It is fairly easy to program, but I read the instructions first, and them had them handy when it was time to program. I am using this in a 3 way circuit, and it works properly. It will also work in a 2 way circuit.

  • Very flexible timer

Unlike most other digital in-wall timers, this one does not require a neutral wire and, in fact ,will control both low and line voltage devices since the switching is fully controlled by the battery. I have five of these in my house and they all have been very reliable.

  • Used previous model for 20 yrs

Used this product before and the battery backup keeps the clock accurate. I like the automatic on at dusk setting

  • Reliable, Good value & somewhat old generation.

Easy rewiring of wall switch in one/two gang board. Somewhat confusing steps for programming which could be simpler with some changes in software. Once programmed, timer works flawlessly. Change is Battery is most desired to Lithium - Ion Battery.

  • A Great Timer for Outside Lighting

You can set this time one-time and it automatically adjusts for changing sunrise and sunset times and for stand and daylight savings times. It is very easy to use... just follow the YouTube video.

  • Great timer for LED lighting

This latching-style timer replaced an older Intermatic timer at my church for controlling LED lights. I'm using it in the auto mode for dusk to dawn lighting control of exterior lights. Works perfectly. Programming is okay - if you make an error, the best solution is to hit "Reset" and start over. The ability to update on/off times automatically means unattended operation. Recommended for control of any fluorescent or LED lighting.

  • Works well but programming somewhat challenging

The screen is hard to read (had to use a flashlght) but the timer seems to work fine. As instructed, I programmed the timer before wiring it into the wall. That helped but the programming instructions are not the best. The manufacturer's Utube video helped,
