installed on a non-backlit computer
I have a Latitude E6420 that didn't come with a backlit keyboard. I installed this one and it works fine. The light goes out after ~10 seconds from the last time you touched it. There doesn't seem to be a way to adjust this (I'd rather it stay on while plugged int all the time). Other than that, it's very good. Love the backlit keyboard
Now with tablets most keyboards are on the screen and can be easily seen. However, with the traditional laptops, the keys are not always easy to see, e.g., on the airplane, while watching TV at home, etc. Dell's backlit keyboard with multiple intensity solve that problem before the tablets did.
