Lamson ULU
This ULU is sturdy and well-made. The walnut scales offer a good grip. Lamson has a good reputation. This ULU comes with the beginnings of an edge put on it, but it's really far too dull to use safely. Plan to spend time honing it before using it. I've had to spend some time on mine. Get a dedicated ULU sharpener or something like it. ULLs like this one are beveled the traditional way--on one side only (not on both), so conventional knife sharpeners are not suitable. If you haven't used an ULU before, be aware that they handle differently than a conventional knife. This is neither good nor bad, but it does require some practice. Also your grip hand is above the blade, rather than behind it, which does limit your view of the blade as it cuts, so you do need to exercise extra caution during use. So far, I have found my ULU to be most useful for mincing herbs and the like. I've also used it to cut up meat, fruit, and vegetables. It works fine. There are several different patterns of ULUs, tracing their origins to different regions. This one is an Alaskan pattern. Lamson makes them in the USA.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
