Works great!
I wanted to give my chickens a little scratch grain in the late afternoon during cold weather but don't get home until after dark. I bought this feeder and substituted a funnel for the tray on the bottom. Hung it in the chicken run and now my chickens get a measured amount of scratch when I want them to have it. I'm thinking about buying 1 for my father in law. He likes to watch the birds but they will empty a normal feeder in a day by knocking it on the ground. This feeder would take care of that problem. Flawed Design Feeder
There are several design problems with this bird feeder. 1. The tray that the seed goes in to is too small and there is not enough clearance for bigger birds like Blue Jay to land on the platform. Seed spills over the sides of the platform, and the birds end up searching for seed on the ground...where eventually a cat will get them. 2. The top of the feeder does not come off easily for refilling. 3. Seed runs out through the bottom even after the motor has stopped turning. 4. Avoid the daily refill
The feeder automatically releases seeds 4 times a day and is simple to set up. It takes 600gms of sunflower seeds and this lasts 5 days at my setting of 30gms for 4 times each day. I can also reduce each feed during the summer months. Everything has remained dry.
