NotesGorillaz TITLE: The Now Now (2LP 180 Gram Deluxe Vinyl Box Set) Their sixth studio album, The Now Now, will be released on 29 June 2018. With the announcement of The Now Now, the band also introduced a new fictional band member, Ace from Cartoon Network's animated series The Powerpuff Girls. In the story, Ace is a temporary replacement for Murdoc, who has been incarcerated.
I’m late to the new Gorillaz music release, basically because I did not care for the last album. This one is great, all the way through, it’s a return to form of the early days of Gorillaz self titled and Demon Days. I instantly fell in love with this album, every track is a great top form performance of that thing this band does soo well. And this is a review of the Deluxe edition, which for the price is a must have. The lenticular cover is awesome, and I really love the color scheme and artwork. Art prints of every band member are included and they are all very cool. The button set is something different and appreciated in the extras that this deluxe comes with. 2D’s notebook, or the album lyrics expanded with clever slogans is a nice touch. The vinyl is a beautiful aqua marine blue 180 gram. It all comes in a durable box. The only thing that I would like to have included would be some B sides or outtakes or demos and studio work that didn’t make the final cut. But, for the price, I got my money’s worth and then some. Damon Albarn is a genius musician, and the Gorillaz constant evolving sound is on point most every time. Except for Humans, I just couldn’t get into that one.
