ReviewsBay College adopts Spielvogel because it is 'THE' text for Western Civilization. Other texts are adequate but Spielvogel presents an INTRODUCTORY view that covers the Core Concepts. Spielvogel is not too political, not too religious, not too economy-focused., I prefer Spielvogel to [other texts]. First of all, WESTERN CIVILIZATION has one author and reads better as a result. The reading experience is more 'seamless' for my students. [One text] didn't have enough detail, while [another text] had too much at times, or so my students claimed. Spielvogel has just the right balance., Of all the texts that I have read and used, Spielvogel provides the best overall summary. It is more balanced than any other text and its straightforward chronological approach is most suited to introductory students.
