Out of the box, the gauge tested good using an ohm meter. Not a good product
I installed this gauge with a new sending unit and it did nothing, it was connected correctly. Bench tested with ohmmeter and it was not even close to specs. Reviews are not the best for this item. Great product
Works as it should, hooked it up on a 78’ CJ-5 if you hook it up correctly, make sure your housing is grounded (this is probably most important) and you check that your sending unit is working correctly with an ohm meter first, you should have no problem. I have read other reviews that say they have had problems. Do your work first to make sure you are hooking wires to it correctly. I grounded my whole speedometer to the frame using one of the screws located on the back of the housing that holds the speedo mechanism in place. Maybe it needs it's own sending unit because it does not work with the stock one.
