  • Nice wood conditioner.

When we recently read of the bacteria fighting qualities of wood cutting boards over plastic ones, we purchased a couple of new cutting boards on eBay, and at the same time searched for a good conditioner to hopefully keep them from drying and splitting over time. This Butcher Block Conditioner sounded good, so we bought it for a reasonable price w/free shipping. I've used it now to condition not only the cutting boards, but also knife and utensil handles, and it seems to be of good quality, and lasts through a couple of uses/washings fairly well. A little goes a long way, so this 12oz size should last quite a while, being a great value for the price. I may even try it on some older wood furnishings to give them some renewed life and shine!

  • Howard Butcher Block Conditioner

I bought this product to season an old maple carving board that I had refinished. It is over 70 years old and was made by my wife's grandfather. After cleaning off the decades of old bee's wax and loose grain I applied a 3 coat application per bottle instructions for a new surface. The wood came out a smooth honey color and resembled newer blocks that I have and use now. The conditioner wipes on easily. Let stand for 20 minutes and then buff to a soft luster. Great results. Be patient and follow the easy instructions. Great to use after a soap and water cleaning. Just let the wood dry before rubbing on 1 application. Do this every time and your block or carving board will never shrink, warp or crack. A must use for wood that will get wet and/or washed with soapy water. You won't be disappointed.

  • Best EVER!

This is so different from other butcher block treatments. It seals - unlike "oils" which evaporate. The difference is you don't stain the top with every bit of moisture you spill. This leaves a natural looking finish in one coating - and it doesn't take much. It makes keeping a clean counter easy, and it is cheap to use. VERY HAPPY!

  • So far so Good!

Hi. I used this for a rustic recycled wood island top. It just darkened the wood, and left a nice finish. I really hate that Polyeurethane look, especially on something rustic looking. So yeah I recommend this stuff, also would suggest putting on after warming up the bottle, goes on easier. Thanks

  • Great stuff!

I installed butcher block countertops on my kitchen island and could never oil them enough. Straight butcher block oil soaked in so fast, within a few days the wood looked terrible again. After following a custom cutting board maker on Instagram, I learned he sold a product with wax in it. So I found the Howard’s product and bought some. Stuff is a game changer! With one coat, it lasts probably 2 months compared to only a few days. So worth it. AND you use far less than oil because you don’t have to do it nearly as often. Only downside is everything stays oily/waxy on the surface for awhile, so you have to pay attention what you set on it for a week or so.

  • Perfect

It works just like they said it would. I am coating wood kitchen utensils and want to be sure they are non-toxic. This goes on smoothly, builds up on subsequent applications, and then polishes to a nice sheen. A little goes a long way!

  • Exactly what I was looking for

This product brought my cutting boards back to life. Each board looks revived and I also used it on some of my wooden spoons. The spoons look much better. I would recommend this product to anyone that wants to keep their wooden cutting boards and wooden spoons looking new and in good shape.

  • Outstanding

I put four applications on my new kitchen island, using the warmth of my hand in a disposable glove to help work it in. I've cut, baked, sliced, diced, frosted, and prepared large racks of ribs for smoking, and there is no staining and not a mark on it. I'm very impressed with this conditioner.

  • This stuff is GREAT!

I ruined the finish of my wooden salad bowl after pouring salad dressing into it. After watching a video on this product I ordered it immediately. My salad bowl is like new! Using it couldn't be simpler and the price is right! I wish I had taken before and after photos...

  • This is amazing stuff.

I used this on some furniture that hasn't been taken care of very well and it brought new life to it. I was truly surprised at the difference.
