I debated about get this lens for a long long time and I'm glad I did. I own an older version of the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 and the image quality is definitely a step up in quality and focusing speed. Extremely high quality lens
This is one of the finest lenses that canon has ever made. If you want to shoot stock photography and are willing to use an DSLR instead of a mirrorless body, pair this with a 5D Mark IV and you will have one the best full frame Canons out there. That combination is a very good choice for low light. Distortion and chromic aberration is virtually nil. If you want to shoot for the pixel counters you have to have top drawer equipment. Add a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens and you have the basis of a very solid camera system that covers medium wide angle to medium telephoto. No, it is not the newest cutting edge tech. But it will do almost everything that the new mirrorless cameras will, and do it cheaper. And it doesn’t overheat! Canon knocks it out of the park again with its Mark III version of 70-200 F2.8
I needed an upgrade from the original of this lens. I really wasn’t sure it would make a lot of difference but it is lighter and a little smaller to deal with. Go for aesthetics, but stay for the contrast and sharpness. So glad I did this
