My Lightest and New Favorite!!
This is by far my favorite reel now. I've had Steez and high-end Lew's and I still love and use those reels, but this Aldebaran is so light and easy to use. I have it matched with a 3oz casting rod and I've not only have I used it (mainly) for finesse plastics, but jigs and other heavier yet subtle presentations as well. They all are presented well with this reel, smooth and effortless. You just have to take some time to experiment various weights to get it dialed in and once there, it's truly nice to fish with. I sometimes don't want to change up, even if the situation calls for a different rig, just to keep fishing with it. Wonderful product, has all the characteristics of Shimano outstanding reels. Very smooth, casts very well, great value.
This is another outstanding reel from Shimano. Small in size, but full of features. The reel is smooth, and comes with 4 weights on the spool. The forward thinking of Shimano designers enables either one or three weights to be activated, and because of Shimano design engineers, the odd number of activated weights does not cause the spool to operate unbalanced. The drag is smooth, and the level wind functions in a narrow left to right operation that lays the line down onto the spool smoothly, and the narrow operating band of the level wind contributes to the ability to have great casting distance with little parasitic drag on the reel internals. Top Of The Heap
Having owned many Shimano reels over the years, this is about as good as they come. If you’re a dedicated long bomber, a met might do you a little better but that’s about it.
