A great preamp
EMG has been putting out quality products for decades, and this is no exception. The three band eq with a sweepable mid band enables you to quickly dial in the sound you are looking for. The treble, bass and mid controls have a center detent, so it's easy to quickly find the flat eq. Add quality pots and solderless connectors, and you have a great system. The only area that could stand refinement would be a center detent on the mid sweep control. I have been using EMG products since the 80's, primarily because of their great sound and excellent quality, and this eq system is no exception. I coupled this eq with the P5J set for a five string bass, and they work well together. Tight, punchy, burpee, or a classic P bass, sound, I can get it all with the pickups and eq. Well worth the money.
