HP 8116A
The HP8116A still commands high values for a reason: it packs the advanced pulse generator capability of the HP 8112 (itself a reference in vintage lab pulse generators) together with a sine and triangle wave function generator up to 50 MHz in a very small package. When it works, it's a great lab instrument, with immense triggering and setup versatility. Beware though that when it doesn't, and unlike the 8112, it might be very hard or impossible to repair. The reason is that the core of the machine is embedded in 3 custom hybrid integrated circuits that cannot be found anymore. And they do go bad. So be sure to get a tested one, one that you can return, or be ready to get another dead one for parts. Or take your chances...

Compact, versatile, and easy to use.
The HP 8116A Pulse.Function Generator is compact, extremely versatile, and easy to use. The large front panel display is easy to read and the push button controls on the front panel are self explanatory. Taught myself how to use it in 5 minutes.

I received the unit and proceeded to test it I found out that the unit works. The problem is if you have wrong settings you will get an error message these are conditions that are not supported by the unit because they don't make sense.
