Pet Containment for less than fence

This wireless fence takes commitment from you to properly train your pet, so pet will recognize and respect the boundary area. You must constantly praise the pet and enforce the positives so as not to have pet completely resist efforts to place the collar on, and be so fearful that they won't be comfortable just moving around the defined play area inside the boundary area. The warning beeper could be a little more audible, because I could barely hear it, and my dog paid NO attention to it, at least at this point. I'm still in the training regimen but have had previous experience with this type of containment. Patience and encouragement, with positive reinforcement will go a long way to successfully use this wireless system. Replacement batteries are easily obtained at local retail stores.

  • Top critical review

product is ok but didn't work.

I had a dog that wouldn't stay in the fence. Once he was out he would bring back the neighbor's trash and chew it up all over my yard. I tried this wireless dog fence and once the dog got out of the fence it would shock him for 30 seconds then he was free to do what he wanted. I tried working the dog like the instructions said with the boundary tone and lead him back to safe area but once I left him alone over the fence he would go. You can hear him yelping for about 30 seconds and then right to the trash. I didn't work for me. Not saying its a bad product just didn't work for me.

  • Easy to set up

Set up took just a few minutes. Training a couple weeks, and I'm still monitoring the puppy to make sure he doesn't oops on the boundary. Definitely good if you don't have the money or desire for a fence, or if you have a Houdini. My brother uses the same one so pet sitting either way is easy.

  • Contains dogs, but occasional tones within circle terrify my small dogs

We had a problem with an in-ground fence and are trying this as a more labor friendly replacement. Overall it seems to work ok, but there have been instances where the dog, in the house and within the radius of the fence, has had his collar start to beep. He had gotten zapped outside and knows what the beep means, so he was understandably scared by this. Most important, though, is that it does keep the dogs within the desired area, and having gotten zapped once, they have actually been much more obedient about staying in the area and coming in when it is time.

  • Awesome system, highly reccommended

we have 2 mini Doxies. They are smart but can be obstanant. after our 2 week training, introduction to the system we went out on leashes and of course they got poked by the fence cause they just wouldn't pay attention to the warnings. Now they are experienced in the total workings of the system and have been well behaved since. Thank you for a great system at a fair price.

  • Good so far

Only used it for a couple of weeks, but so far so good. Have 3 dogs on the system with 3 different types of collars. Do note that different collars have slightly different ranges for the tone to go off. Mine have a 20ft difference in some spots of my yard from the standard collar to the stubborn and the free to roam collar.

  • Works well for us.

This wireless fencing works for our German Shorthair when we are traveling. She is responsive to the tone activating when she gets near the boundary line. It was relatively easy to set up. One thing I have noticed is that if she is going fast (as in taking off to chase a rabbit) she gets beyond the boundary before the tone activates on her collar, then she gets confused as to what to do. However, we are still in the training phase so I think with time, she'll learn. She's a fast learner.

  • Keeps the dog in!

Only took 2-3 sessions and 2 mild static corrections to have my frisky Doberman trained! She loves to bolt into the woods at the first sign of this stray cat and nothing has been able to prevent it until now. I even let her out without the collar and she stays in the designated area. I heard that the battery dies quickly on the collar so when she is not outside, I take the battery out of the collar to lengthen the battery life. It's been 6 months and still on the original battery. If you live in a condo/townhouse, you may have to get creative with the base placement since the radius is a circle.

  • So far so good

My walker hound follows her nose everywhere and used to wonder off. This containment system works like a charm! If she wanders off too far, the caller gives her a correction and she simply comes back into range. the only issue I have is that the range of the fence seems to move.. shorter / longer etc.. Kind of sporadic.

  • top that screws into the shocker

Everything is good except for the clear plastic top that screws into where you set the shock. Its not sturdy enough and when we got it is was so tight on there that we have to use a screwdriver instead of their plastic screwdriver, and it bent and now we need to unscrew it again to start the shocker and I'm afraid too cuz it will probably break, and if it does, do they sell just the lid?
