Garage Door Monitor (Craftsman)
Works well. Does the job. Hard to find a simple monitor that doesn't require a connection to the door opener. No audible alarm but not sure this is an issue. Don't want the device sounding during the day when door in normal use. Some have audible alarms that would be useful at night. Works well for basic functionality
Shows a green LED when the garage door is open; flashing red when it's closed. The sensor unit uses a common CR2032 battery that lasts about a year. It transmits at least 50 feet through wood and drywall. The reciever (with the signal light) mounts on the wall or lies on a counter. Negatives: the receiver antenna is a vinyl-coated wire that sticks out the bottom of the unit and looks unfinished, not in keeping with any sophisticated indoor decor. The required a/c plug in on the receiver has an adequate-length cord, but black only, which looks crude on an interior wall, since plugs tend to be low, but you want the indicator light up at eye level. Overall, it looks like a science project, not a slick electronic device. Also, it's far too expensive for what it is, though competitively priced. A clever high school student could cobble together such a device for $20 in parts. But, this does the job of telling you when you left the garage door open, and that's what I need, so I accept its flaws. I have tried similar devices that also SMS your phone when the door is up or down, so you get a confirm as you drive away that you did remember to close the door. Craftsman does not do that. However, the other device, which cost about the same, only lasted one year. I have used this Craftsman unit in other houses for years on end with no trouble.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Had an old craftsman. Purchased used. Lasted for many years. It finally bit the dust so I got this one new. Easy to install. Works good but I wish that the lights were brighter.
