D'Addario PWEEP202 Elliptical Guitar Strap Pins Pair Chrome

These are a fantastic innovation. Very useful for keeping instrument straps safely secured. I purchased these to put on a newly purchased Danelectro Electric Baby Sitar. They work flawlessly as I knew they would , as I have installed them on a few of my instruments and I've found them to be a very worthwhile investment. Because I don't like to worry about my instrument investments, once procured I usually make additional investments to keep them working safely and properly. In addition to these elliptical strap end pins I also use rubber washers, various colors, but usually red or black washers ( these items are readily available on eBay!) around the strap pin and strap to secure the strap in a very secure manner! Highly recommended! 5 Stars!!! Bravo D'Addario. As always eBay is the best platform for acquiring essential gear and getting to work with Class Act Sellers!!

  • Top critical review

They are great but just okay?!?

I recommend them, I think they are good value and I enjoy them. Only when modified. BUT!!! The strap button itself is great! Those stupid rubber washer grommets things that come with them are to be thrown in the trash and replaced with a quality set of felt washers. You have to use the felt washers to get them tighten enough to prevent them from rotating. If they rotate from the intended horizontal position (horizontal to the ground) they are useless. Otherwise I would give them high ratings if I didn't encounter the rotation problem. See what happens is... When you tighten the button to the guitar after you position the button in place the rubber washer grommet will expand and mush out from between the button and guitar body. I've tried less tension, more tension and every tension in between and still the button will rotate unless properly tightened with quality felt washers to prevent rotation. Maybe D'Addario will find this lonely review and change the washers? They are a great compromise between a standard strap button and a dedicated strap lock. Just understand you still shouldn't be "hula hooping" your guitar with these.

  • Elliptical pins ROCK!

These are great pins to have–they give you some added security with your strap mount on your guitar. I have them on both of my Stratocasters and got turned onto them because my Kubicki Factor bass came stock with a very similar pin. Mount them at an angle to correspond with the angle of your strap end when you have your guitar on, in such a way that the pointed ends are perpendicular to strap hole slot, or, so that it forms a cross, of sorts. This maximizes the strap lock effect. Hope that makes sense. These pins are great–love 'em!

  • P.W. endpins offer locking features without the bulk/appearance of strap-locks.

I've used these on a number of guitars. Gibson used to feature this design in an aftermarket end-pin back in the early 80's, and I looked for it for years after they quit making them. Finally found them being made by Planet Waves. They are a nice alternative to the traditional bulky strap-locks. Keeps a more conservative appearance with a more positive strap-retention.

  • Strap locks? Not necessary

I first used "elliptical" type strap buttons on a 90's Gibson semi that had "diamond" buttons on it because they were... (go figure) diamond shaped. So I began buying the Planet Wave strap buttons and now use them on every git I have. I think It's only the most ruthless guitar swinger that could possibly get a strap to come off of these.

  • Work great!

I looked for a strap lock system over a bit of time and I am glad I settled on these. They resemble the ones on my 80's les Paul deluxe. I plan to get one more set for my son so he won't drop his guitar either. They are a big improvement over the small round conical strap holders.

  • PEASE OF MIND

I can't tell you how many times I've had a guitar strap come off the guitar's pin. I just bought new Telecaster and was determined that it never fall because a strap came off the pin. This design is simple but brilliant. I have so much more confidence in these pins than the stock/standard pins. If guitar manufacturers are smart, they'd incorporate these type pins in all their guitars.

  • The safest, easiest and smallest strap lock for your guitar.

Came in well packed, and in a nice package. I toot it out and examined the parts. Very well made item, looks nice and isn't bulky like other two piece strap locks. It was easily installed and you can use the original screws from the stock strap buttons or the ones that are provided in the package. I feel these will keep your favorite guitar from busting loose and diving for the floor. A great investment for very little cash.

  • self locking strap locks

self locking strap locks are awesome, i have the original gibson designed diamond shaped strap locks on my original gibson les pauls, i like yours very much, i do however feel that you product is over priced, but i have bought atleast 10 sets for my guitars or custom builds i have made for a few customers, i recommend them , but i feel that more than $5 for a pair is too high!

  • These are the best!

I put these on almost all my quitars, then I also use those rubber washers. And this setup works so much better than all the other more expensive strap lock systems, and I've tried a few kinds. The other straplocks, where a piece permanently attaches to your strap and clicks inside of the strap button, I've had those fall apart and almost drop the quitar a few times. But this simple strap button works perfect!
