Marie was based on a true story.
Marie worked for the governor in Georgia. Saw corruption and ironically was tried in a court by the very people who were corrupt. Against all odds Marie won her case and the governor and his cronies were ousted from office. Many of the scenes were shot in Wilmington, NC.
