UK Masterpiece from the late 60’s.
If (1968) Predecessor to Dead Poets Society, except this film is set in an English school. Fascinating unorthodox direction by Lindsay Anderson. Break-out role for actor Malcolm McDowell as Mick Travis. Whips versus the Skum. Hard lessons to be learned about life in a strict boarding school for boys in London. Actress Christine Noonan steals the show as The Girl. Filmed in both color and black and white. Surreal storyline with a strong build-up of tension. The ending is unforgettable.
