An exercise in simple, pure horror, HALLOWEEN takes us into the world of a mad killer, Michael Myers, who at a very young age stabbed his older sister to death. Locked away for many years in a mental hospital Michael escapes one night and returns to his hometown to continue his killing spree. Jamie Lee Curtis, in her first role, plays the resourceful babysitter who is chased by the killer on Halloween night. Produced for very little money and a tight shooting schedule, HALLOWEEN was a stunning success when it was released. Written by John Carpenter and his longtime producer Debra Hill, the film set their careers on fire, with both of them working together many times over the next 25 years. The film also made a star out of Jamie Lee Curtis and turned the slasher movie into a viable, successful genre. HALLOWEEN has been copied, parodied and even turned into a franchise of its own, but the original is still considered the best of the bunch. Great special features and extras!! Quality and sound of the film has been greatly enhanced. Phenomenal!! If you grew up watching these films on VHS or television you will greatly enjoy the quality on Blu-ray. At first I thought I would have liked a more condensed packaging, but the individual cases make the quality of the packaging better I feel. I recommend this collection to any Halloween fan out there. The Shape in all his glory!
I just love Michael Myers, and everything about him. Even his bad movies as long as he is onscreen. I have yet to watch all of these, but oh boy do I plan to soon. As for this collection, I got mine in incredible condition, and wow does it look good. It's just so satisfying to see all the movies together like this, and the boxes are very pretty. I love the case itself, and I love how all of the disc's boxes themselves have all the original artwork for the cover. Also, I popped in part 4 to see if it had this infamous audio desync issue, but unless it's at a specific part, there was nothing wrong. I did order the other versions of the Rob Zombie cuts, and I ordered the 2018 movie as well as plan to order Halloween Kills, but it's a shame this was made before those were made. Regardless, this collection is incredible, though it was not at all cheap, and if you just want the movies, you could definitely save some money getting them 1 by 1. I wanted this because of all the special features, the booklet, and the boxes. Plus it came with the producers cut of curse of Michael, and that standalone is around $100. This is a great collection for any Halloween fan. The copies of curse, h20, and resurrection as well as the bonus disk are there reason to buy this set because of the special features included. This one has a cool booklet that gives you info about each film and the actors, also, each movie has it's own case along with the awesome box it comes in!
