  • Radio is very small, don't know yet how well it will operate.

I've not begun using this unit. Actually I have only just taken it out of it's shipping container in preperation of hooking it up to power and antenna and programming it with the CHIRP program. I will report further on the quality and use of this radio sometime in the near future.

  • Still suffers from intermod & out of band signal breakthrough.

I now have both the KT8900 & The KT8900R. I was hoping the updated KT8900R would have addressed the intermod problem but it seems not.. These radios provide outstanding value, but don't expect Icom performance & features from a radio costing 25% of the purchase price of an Icom dualbander.. With better front end filtering, these radios would be a winner

  • over all a decent radio for the price

Radio is hard to program would recommend getting the software for it also on/off button is very hard to turn off/on I just leave it on since i'm using a cigarette plug for it and unplug it to tune on/off radio will go back on once re-plugged back in so its not such a big deal ... wish they didn't have all the buttons on the mic and could get a regular mic for it

  • Good tri-band for a low cost.

Nice to see a tri-band available that has reasonable power output on 220. Radio was tested on a service monitor and showed good for frequency and deviation. Power on 2 meters was 31 watts, 220 was 17.6 watts and 440 was 18.4 watts on high power. Better than many other radios that were only 5-10 watts on 220. Great for field day and "go bag".
