A fun tool for your own fluffy shaved ice
I used my kakigori machine for the first time today. Following an online recipe, I had made azuki bean jam and matcha syrup beforehand. Instead of sugared condensed milk I sugared some coffee cream. Getting the shaved ice was easy, not much force is required, but it took a while and occasionally was quite audible. Once I had my shaved ice mountain in a little dessert bowl, I added the matcha syrup to the mountain top, placed the azuki bean jam somewhere in the middle and added the sweet liquid cream on one side at the bottom, some plum whine on the other side. It was devine! I have to say, I had never eaten kakigori before, only tried to crush ice cubes in the food processor/blender. Crushed ice didn't convince me. But this was fluffy and feathery! What was left over of the frozen disk from the included tub I put down the sink. And made sure to dry off the kakigori machine well. Remember to leave space in the tub for the ice to expand. Make several disks in a row and keep them in a ziplock bag in the freezer for a future dessert. I am looking forward to a long summer ahead. I definitely recommend this machine!
