A copy of a classic in Hollywood movies, from the golden year of 1939, when movie making had reached its zenith. This is the portrayal of the historic struggle for Mexican independence under President Don Benito Juarez against the machinations of the French Empire under Napoleon III and the tragic characters of the ill fated Maximillian and his wife Carlotta. An all star cast with dynamic performances from the like of Betty Davis, Brain Aherne, Paul Muni, Donald Crisp, Claude Rains and John Garfield. A classic and one of Warner Brothers' best movies of that time. Sure to be enjoyed my movie lovers of all generations.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

This was a well done movie, providing insights into a little known part of Mexican history, noting the deceptions that brought the Emperors Maximiliano and Carlotta to Mexico and the parallels between Benito Juarez and Abraham Lincoln.
