Designed in conjunction with indie pedal builder Analog Man, the MXR Duke of Tone Overdrive is for players who want to add a touch of warmth and grit to their rig while allowing the natural tone and feel of their high-end gear to shine.
While this pedal is not a good choice for country rock of the 70's it is a great sounding pedal for classic rock and best to be played thru a tube amp. Sounds very different thru my roland JC-40 vs. my Fender 65 reissue Princeton Reverb!! Leads will cut thru the mix of a full band but is overkill for my acoustic/electric duo excluding the drums and bass. Nice build on this pedal and the options of overdrive/boost/distortion are very convenient and versatile. I won't use this in a typical gig but love fooling around with it in my studio for jamming!! Try one at your local music store if possible before you buy it and try it thru a tube amp!!!!! BTW....I paid a paltry $117 for an open box/like new pedal!
