Streamlined Battles! More Mechs! What's not to love?!?
The original BT Rules have been streamlined/condensed/simplified and it enables larger scaled battles (more mechs!) to be played in a more timely fashion. The miniatures are durable, but cost effective, and you get 13 of them in the box! Not only am I digging it, but my kids are too. There are lots of Variant rules that encapsulate the core of the old BT stratagem, without bogging it down in minutia. Playing the new rules has made me want to purchase more specialty mechs, and their accompanying mech-warriors. I got my eyes on Kerensky.
Oh! Another cool thing: My teenagers weren't really sure what to think about a game that involved 3D (and not on the screen). The boxed set includes a little book (my kids are avid readers) that gives them a feel for the game with a scenario of a skirmish between Clan Jade Falcon and The Northwind Highlanders. So, after a quick 20 minute read, they could already understand the fundamentals of what the game was about without diving into excessive rules. Brilliant!
All in all, we had wholesome family fun, we connected well... as we blew each other up!
Now they are asking me for their own mechs, so that they can paint their own lances, customize, and are enjoying their own variations to make it unique to their preferences. Well Done Catalyst! Keep Em Coming!
