Printing images stored on your smartphones and cameras has been made easier thanks to the Canon SELPHY CP910 Dye-sublimation printer. This compact device is lightweight convenient and can be taken just about anywhere. It has a wireless setup with built-in Wi-Fi so you don’t have to connect your devices in order to print. If a network isn’t available Access Point Mode lets you print from Wi-Fi-enabled devices. Otherwise you can use the flash drive port or memory card slot.The Canon digital photo printer has a portable design made for on-the-move photographers and it’s available in black or white. It weighs a mere 1.8 lbs and is only 2.4 inches tall by 7 inches wide. There are some accessories that make things easier on users. A 2.7-inch LCD screen that can tilt up sits on top of the printer. It also has a full-color display that lets you view search and edit images without ever connecting to a computer. Additionally the printers work with memory cards and USB flash drives. You can even use the flash media directly on your camera to print thanks to the onboard card reader.Although you can link up with desktops or laptops accessories like the AirPrint and Access Point Mode lessen that need. If you choose to connect to a computer know that the SELPHY works with OS Windows and Mac. By using Apple AirPrint you get a wireless sync with compatible iPad iPhone or iPod touch devices. These printers also support wireless Google Cloud Print and Canon’s Mobile Printing making them compatible with other tablets and smartphones. Canon’s free app also allows for compatibility with Windows RT devices. Further accessories and supplies include a paper cassette that is postcard-sized a compact power adapter and CD-ROM software for computers. The power adapter is 100-240 volts (50/60 Hz). It has optional battery support that requires a CG-CP200 charger adapter. For ink and paper Canon offers a few standard sets that have the right fit for this printer.Even with the CP910’s compact package it delivers vivid high-quality prints of up to 300 by 300 dpi resolution. Each photo is printed on 4 by 6 sheets of paper. You can choose to add separate smaller images on a single photo and cut them out. To maintain this type of quality the SELPHY CP910 utilizes dye-sublimation technology. This technology makes it so that each printed photo is lovely whether it is in black and white or color. Canon also ensures that photos printed are both water-resistant and can last for up to 100 years. There are a number of other features in the SELPHY printer that improves the quality of each photo it prints. It has a built-in red-eye correction that automatically catches and enhances flash photographs stricken with the dreaded red-eye. Canon has also implemented Portrait Image Optimize. This feature uses automatic facial detection and correction to fix images that come out dark due to backlighting. There's even borderless printing which gives you edge-to-edge prints across the entire paper. To top it off you don’t have to wait long to get your photos once you begin printing. Good quality photos and easy to run.
This must be a good printer as I have chosen to buy it 3 times! When there is a serious jam, and Cannon online or by phone cannot be of help, I keep buying the same model. The first printer lasted 5 years, which was worthwhile to me. But the second was only 2 years old, which makes it pretty expensive. Repair is either not offered or more expensive than a new printer. Printer #3 better last awhile or this one is my last. The ink cartridge system is not environmentally friendly, which is an issue with many printers, but that needs to change. Awesome print quality 5 stars!
Pros The print quality is amazing! The Cannon Selphy CP910 prints in layers; meaning that is prints one color at a time. By doing that the details in the picture are crisp. The quality is what could be expected from getting pictures printed at one of those kiosks at photo places (i.e. Sams Club). The pictures come out pretty dry so you are able to handle immediately without the risk of smearing the ink. This is also made possible by the "tare off" edges. It prints with about a half inch margin to the left and right of the picture to allow you room to handle the freshly printed photo. You then simply snap off the margins when you are comfortable with handling the ink. I love that it is wireless. It connects to your wifi and enables you to print quickly. I work at a big box retailer as the in-store HRM and have purchased this to capture photos of our events. I am unable to hook up new equipment without having IT come out. The Selphy CP910 automatically connects to wifi after the initial set up. The set up is quick and easy! Just plug in, install the paper cartridge and ink cartridge, turn on, connect to wifi, download app, and start printing at the push of a button. It is so easy to take a picture and then send it to the Selphy printer. Cons The directions tell you to download an app that does not exist. The app is actually "Canon Print". As of now I am unable to edit the picture in the app before printing so sometimes the pictures are cropped. I am guessing that this is an error on my part. Only able to print up to a 4"x6" picture. It is perfect for "regular" sized pictures but any bigger then a 4"x6" and your unable to use it. Overall I highly recommend this to anyone that is scrapbooking, printing pictures for their business, DIY-ers, or anyone that wants quick photos without running to the store. Love my new Selphy printer! I am able to use it to print photos off my phone in small formats for my scrapbook/journaling.
