SynopsisThermodynamics, An Engineering Approach, covers the basic principles of thermodynamics while presenting a wealth of real-world engineering examples, so students get a feel for how thermodynamics is applied in engineering practice. This text helps students develop an intuitive understanding by emphasizing the physics and physical arguments. Cengel and Boles explore the various facets of thermodynamics through careful explanations of concepts and use of numerous practical examples and figures, having students develop necessary skills to bridge the gap between knowledge, and the confidence to properly apply their knowledge. McGraw-Hill's Connect, is also available as an optional, add on item. Connect is the only integrated learning system that empowers students by continuously adapting to deliver precisely what they need, when they need it, how they need it, so that class time is more effective. Connect allows the professor to assign homework, quizzes, and tests easily and automatically grades and records the scores of the student's work. Problems are randomized to prevent sharing of answers an may also have a "multi-step solution" which helps move the students' learning along if they experience difficulty.

    An exceptional value.

The U.S. version costs five times as much as this book. My prof uses only SI units, so nothing is lost by using this text. Pictures and drawings are in black and white and not color, but nothing is lost.

    Cheap book cheaply made

This is an 'international edition' so all the information is in the book. Unfortunately, the book is much smaller, the information is just crammed in there....making it hard to actually read easily..its in black and white, unlike the US version, so figures and diagrams are not as easy to understand... the end-of-chapter questions are different from those in the US version, so if you have to turn in homework assignments, you have to get the questions elsewhere....I just couldn't afford 200 dollars for the US version, so I am making do with this much cheaper version, but if you have the money, I'd say its worth paying more for the US version.

  • Definitely lightweight

Being a PDF, it's nice to not have to carry around a bunch of books. The edition was also up to date. Good price, good mobility without being extra-priced.

  • timely shipping

the book came as soon as advertised. the book is exactly what is stated in the description, although the cover looks slightly different than the picture shown. be warned that the international version may be missing some tables which have information only given in imperial units, although i haven't ran into any issues yet. the book did have some minor damage to the cover and first 20 or so pages. not the end of the world but also not perfect. considering the price of the alternate version i would recommend it

  • As Described

In good condition when I got it, clearly printed on normal not the photo quality shiny paper, though I actually preferred this. All black and white no colour but this was fine too. Perfect for studying!
