  • Nice pickup but...

The pickup itself is awesome. Sounds bright & clean with a lot of sizzle. The problem lies in the mounting setup. It comes with a cream colored plastic mounting ring, as on a Les Paul. The screws on each side go through the ring, a metal tube/spacer, the tabs on the side of the pickup, and then there is a nut, instead of the tabs being threaded for adjustment, like ALL OTHER PICKUPS! Anb, the nuts are solder in place to the screws???!!! Yes, they are pre-set & non-adjustable?? I was using a different style ring to mount this, so I had to cut off the ring to get access to the screws, and after an hour or so was able to remove the solder so I could unscrew the nuts, This rendered them unusable...so a trip to the hardware stoe to purchase 2 brass nuts & new screws. I solded the nuts to the bottom of the mounting tabs and all was well...after about 2 hours of messing with them...I'm just warning you. Why did they do it like they did? I'm gobsmacked here man!
