Amplified 1987 beat unchanged version
I purchased a new amplified bible 2015 edition to find out what some reviewers mentioned, wording that redefines the true meaning that is in the 1987 version. I started looking for an older 1987 version to replace my worn out one and found this one on eBay that was clean and had great binding. It it a great study bible and I highly recommend it! The 1987 amplified bible stays closest to the original Cambridge KJV bible. Get it, don’t waste your money on others. I love it as much as my KJV.
AMPC really opens up the Word using Hebrew or Greek meanings in its paraphrase to illuminate. Whether you prefer another version this is very useful and deserves a place in your library. The amplified bible clarifies so many passages allows a better meditation on the word. While I don't memorize scripture from this version, it is a wonderful tool for giving insight to the meaning. Great Study Tool
The extra verbiage and parentheticals makes it harder to read as smoothly as other translations. However, the same extras often bring deeper, clearer meanings of a particular text for me. Many people prefer a side-by-side and only use the amplified side to add detail to their studies when they want it. I use the amplified as my primary because I don't want to miss any details. Right printing, right type face, right price
I've used the Amplified Bible for years when I developed and taught scripture study. As my desk has gone the way of life changes with advanced age I found the regular print more difficult to use with everything balanced on my knees. That was the need for Large Print. It should be obvious from the above that I am of advanced age to many. Hence, I prefer the translations and years of publication I am most used to. This copy filled the bill.
