17.5 hp intec Briggs-straton junk engine on troy bilt riding tractor
I always keep extra head gaskets on hand, because the briggs and stratton 17.5 hp intec engine was poorly designed. its missing a head bolt in the center on the intake side of the head. thats where the head gasket blows! I have changed 2 head gaskets on my 2012 troy bilt tractor, the last one being 3 weeks ago. I can change one out in about 45 minutes, but its a pain in the butt when your halfway thru cutting grass. and you have to stop and change it. Briggs and stratton needs to come up with a heavier duty head gasket, since it was there goof-up, but they won't, they got there money. Gasket works great. No kinks or bends in gasket allowing a nice seal. Replaced because mower would smoke when deck is under a load and read that replacing the gasket is a potential fix.
