Basic CB
Its compact, simple basic 40 ch CB. I wouldn't be surprised if it is fundamentally the same CB Uniden has produced for over 10 yrs that has had a superb track record of good audio, good reliability and reasonable range. A price tag that won't break the bank nor is there eye wash or frills yet solid. Not much bigger that two boxes of stick matches, won't take up much space and it has a good clean appearance. This is a good basic 40 channel CB radio. It has good modulation and good power at a very decent price. A bonus for me, is that it is small and compact. Great Quality Compact CB Radio!
Uniden makes very good quality radios and the 505XL does not disappoint in any way. Very good dynamic microphone, very clear sound & good output transmit power. Best of all I really like the small size, fits in any car or truck or boat for that matter. The only feature that is missing is the NB or noise blanker, which can be found on other models.

PRO505XL cb radio is a good value
I'm a firm believer in putting the bulk of your cb money into your antenna. This radio puts out the legal 4 watts. For under $40 you can't beat the cost. I have this radio feeding a Tram WSP Penetrator on a Tram magnetic base those 4 watts and Reports are the mic sounds just fine. If you are dealing with a small space for a cb radio this little unit is your answer. It's basic so don't expect a mic gain or power gain or even a noise limiter. You might want to hook up an external speaker but I do that even with more expensive radios anyway. Buy this radio. Ya can't lose.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

good for the $
I just wanted an inexpensive rig to take along on road trips with the RV. This is it. The receiver is a bit scratchy and not the best. It is putting out about 4 watts off a 1/4 wave mag mount antenna. SWR was less than 1.3 to 1. Not bad at all. Excellent value
This thing works beautifully and I am very happy with it. A CB radio is a CB radio, they are all limited legally to 4 watts out of the box and they all operate on the same 40 channels (unless you bring SSB into the conversation, we'll skip that for now). The only things you can really add for normal use might be some kind of channel scanning capability or whatnot but this unit does the core function of a CB radio just as good as units more than twice the price. I've had some good crystal clear conversations with it and would not hesitate to buy more of these for other vehicles. You might need an isolator on the power line to cut out noise from your car's electrical system but that's not the radio's fault.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
