Very Good Filter - NOT the generic garbage
These filters are of good quality, not the cheap replacement filters that leak charcoal or turn the water a different color. Make sure they have the "Cat Mate" stamp on the side of the filter. The generic ones do not have that stamp. I use distilled water in my fountain, but still use a filter. I change the filter every 2 months and change the water every week or so. So far (3 years plus), I have had no issues with the fountain, dirt or debris, clogging or any other problems.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Buy genuine Cat Mate replacement filters!
I will only buy genuine PetMate replacement filters. These may cost more than the generic brand, but they are definitely a better quality product (specifically the fiber & carbon pellets). These replacement filters are the same as the original ones. Do not buy generic filters as you will be disappointed because they cannot be cleaned and used again and again. I wash and brush these filters when I clean the pet fountain, which is every 4 days and one filter lasts for months.
