Honest Generic Pool Pump Review
Motor and pump strainer etc are good for the price. The shaft seal gave out 6 months and although the supplier tried to send me a replacement seal, they sent me the O-Ring seal not the shaft seal I desperately needed. Tried to get one and no one had one that size and the seal did not have a number on it to cross reference. The seller finally got me a number, but it doesnt cross reference to anything and you cannot find that seal number, so just be cautious. I rigged another better quality seal and made it work since I had no choice, my pool was turning green already. I recommend when you buy this pump you remove the shaft seal and lube it with some water proof lube, it will last longer. Other than that, the pump does its job at a great price. Id give it a 3.5 to 4 star, but id buy again!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Smooth & Quiet
I bought this because the big Texas freeze broke my Pentair strainer pot. No supplier I "Googled" has the strainer pot! So I ordered a cheap new pump just to get by. But, before this pump arrived I managed to "fix" my old strainer pot and it's been running leak-free! So, the ONLY thing I've done with this NEW PUMP is hook up a hose, fill the pot, and plugged it in and ran it for less than 30 seconds on the 115v setting. It ran very SMOOTH and QUIET. All the components, except the clear pot lid, seem to be solid & of good quality. I am hoping it will remain as "standby" only for many years! - I fixed my Pentair strainer pot with soldering irons! Used the point to melt a groove following the crack, inside & out. Use flat side to melt the ridges that form along the melted groove back down into the groove. Powerful pump for a great price.
Ordered this pump to replace the one my girlfriend had for her above ground pool that had quit working. Took a while to be shipped, but with all the craziness going on at this time, it was to be expected. Pump arrived and I realized that I was going to need adapters to hook up the inlet and outlet lines. Went to the local pool supply store, which insidently didn't have any pumps in stock at all, and they had an adapter kit for it. Installed the pump in about 5 minutes and had it working immediately. It's still working perfectly. Really like the clear lid to the filter basket. You cannot go wrong with this pump!
I have had this installed for about two months now. It is so much quiter than the Hayward I replaced. Yes the flow rate is a bit less but I think the Hayward was a bit too much. This pump is working great for my Dough boy 8700 gallon pool (24'X12'). It will probably save me a bit of money on the electric bill too. This pump is very powerful and it's just what I needed. The filter is awesome to I can just take it out and wash it off and put back in. No more money wasted on pool filters. Not a Hayward
No where on the pump does it say Hayward. I have had an electrician look at my power and it should take the load and wiring is correct. But if it is 100 degrees it gets hot and shuts off. It has plenty of open air with nothing blocking it. The leaf basket does not catch the elm leafs and have had to clean the pump twice. Yes it is placed correctly. I am trying to figure out how to get my money back as i took out extended warranty. I am totally not satisfied with this pump. I was so excited when i saw it had two speeds. But the very first time i used it it shut off due to over heating. Then it ran on a timer for 8 hours with no problem but this whole week it wont run more than an hour before it shuts off.
