  • Tape Two!

Installed the 8" on my vehicle today and it's great! I prepared the balancer by sanding it down with a Scotch pad and then two coats of satin black paint. Make sure that you prep yours before mounting the new tape or it may not adhere tight enough! The tape stuck great and made getting the exact timing a snap!!! I'm sure that the extra ones will come in handy for another project.

  • If your old car doesn't have a timing mark in the correct location buy one of these!

I have a 1964 Chevy Belair that has a harmonic balancer that has turned. That happens and normally means its about time to replace it. Not worth the investment right now but with this tape I can find "top dead center" on the number 1 piston on the 348 I'm rocking and get the tape in position. I will be taking a chisel and marking the current positions because the tape wont last on this old part. If I were able to pull the balancer off of the engine and clean it up to apply the tape it would be different but its more important that I get it set currently than go that far.

  • Good product and price better than other sellers

I used the strip designed for 6.75 balancer. Installation was very easy, and my corners are not peeling at this point. Timing was able to be read very easily with a zero mark timing light.

  • would buy again.

good product but the glue on the tape is not strong enough to hold the tape on the balancer for a long period of time.i used a spray adhesive on the balancer then applied the tape.

  • easy to see timing tape

priced right, degree scale is easy to read, it sticks well to dampener but i used some Clear spray paint for insurance

  • Damaged before shipping

Sorry I never got to use the MSD timing tape. It was damaged. Thing is the plasitc shipping envelope was damage free? But the timing sticker was folded beyond its ability to be used? Strange.

  • Came off after a month.

I cleaned and prepped my balancer. Tape stuck good. About a month later (today) tape was gone from balancer. The glue from the tape is still on the balancer but the tape is long gone..

  • Works great!

My Pentastar V6 has no timing marks. After finding and marking TDC, this tape allows me to set the parameters for setting the ECU and then verifying that the timing is correct.

  • Timing is everything

Once you determine which length ( size ) you need, the hardest part is done. After the hub is "sqeaky clean" carefully stick the tab to it. I found that cutting out the timing tab from the card and peeling about half the backing tape off, you can align the timing tab perfectly. Then , by holding the tab in place with non-sticky end, gently and carefully stick the tab down. Mine came out perfect. On another review I read about this product, the guy writing it said that after he finished sticking the tab on, he sprayed clear-coat on it to help seal the edges from "wind lift". For insurance, I did it.
