I first bought an Aimpoint Pro and it's a very good product but then I bought a Vortex Spitfire 1X Prism....WOW
The Spitfire has clean glass and a precise 2 MOA Red Dot. Have you ever noticed how some Red Dot's, at first, don't stay on track to the target. I don't know if it's me or the sight but when I have to move the rifle a small amount, the Dot is supposed to stay on track with the target, it will not at first...but after working with it for awhile, it will. With the Spitfire, there is never a problem and that's the first reason why I love this sight ! It works and it's dead on the target. The reason I got interested in Vortex....their warranty. As long as you don't do anything on purpose to their sights, Vortex will repair or replace, no questions, no receipt, a forever warranty...the best type of warranty in the business. I don't work for Vortex and I'm not paid for saying good things about their product. I'm 68 years old and I'm on a fixed income. I don't have the money to just throw away so I want a good bang for my money. The next time your in a shop that sells Vortex, take a look at the Spitfire. Very Clear
I have two that I bought previously for myself and this one is for my son. They are very clear and because they are 1X you can keep both eyes open and be able to see more of the surroundings. The reticles can be lit in red or green with five degrees of brightness. The reticles [rings and dot] are etched onto the lens which is nice because if the battery goes dead you still have them in black for aiming. The reason I gave it four stars is because the lens covers fit loose and come off rather easy. Great alternative to the traditional red dot sight.
This optic has proven to work better for me than a traditional red dot sight for one particular reason. I have a stigmatism in my dominant eye, which causes traditional red dots to "flare" or "bloom". This sight, being a prism based sight, eliminates that because it can be focused to my eye. If you have an astigmatism, this is the scope you want!! No need for the illumination in bright daylight as the etched reticle is very clear! In low light, the illumination is awesome!! Love the reticle of this red dot. It may not be a Eotech, Sig or Holosun but it's dame good. The etched reticle is great. The only draw back to the scope is its weight and battery life.
