Excellent. Indispensable.
I've tried quite a few different peripherals to increase productivity (and enjoyment!) when working in graphics design. Although the ShuttlePRO V2 has its shortcomings, I find it to still be the best product available at the moment. The large assortment of buttons is surely a must and the V2 has 15 (the V1/original is just two buttons short, the buttons at the sides of the wheel). Some products like the Griffin Powermate Knob is at a huge disadvantage in this department (although it feels and looks more premium). The ShuttlePRO spring loaded wheel has 7 increments in each direction and works well (the throw might be too much though as it's a whole lot of turning to get to the 7th step either way). This with the dial is perfect for video/time based software for scrubbing, which singlehandedly makes this indispensable (gaming keypads might have mouse like wheels but lack this). In software like photoshop/lightroom, the wheel/dial works great for brush size adjustments but of course, the application is absolutely up to you using their very customizable software. Just a note that the V2 has three dimples on the metal dial while the original version has one only and it's plastic (it can be easily remedied by adding a couple of button like stickers on it and also, the plastic vs. metal issue isn't a real noticeable one). I use this mostly with a mouse or a Wacom Cintiq (Intuos and the like will be similar) and I rarely use the keyboard. It makes things fast, accessible, and much more enjoyable. When I'm away from the ShuttlePRO (i.e. laptop on the road), I actually get a bit irritated having to find keys or having to lift my left hand from one side of the keyboard to the other (like hitting the [ or ] keys for brush sizes or control + m for curves... or shortcut keys that are all over the place in Lightroom). You really become spoiled after using this gadget for a while... I've become so attached to this thing that I installed the software on/moved settings to my laptop and brought the ShuttlePRO along for the last trip. Since the original/V1, there hasn't been much development in the hardware department and I'm completely alright with that (other than fit and finish, I don't see a real necessity). Contour keeps developing the software end and it's becoming better and better. I hope it keeps supporting the V2 even when a V3 comes out. Everything is there as you expect; you can program the buttons and wheel/knob to your heart's content and now, there are programmable macros you can customize! This actually gives the gadget way more potential than I need (no, I have found no need for the macros), but it's certainly nice to know Contour is still working on this guy and moving forward. And yes, I don't think the website says so directly, but each iteration of the software I've used still works on the V1 (I've replaced it with the V2 just recently). So overall, I'm more than happy with the ShuttlePRO V2. I simply can not imagine going back to just keyboard and mouse/trackball/graphic tablet now, if not for productivity, for my comfort and sanity while working long long long hours on any project. The only cons I find is that if there were more buttons it would be better (of course), the quality of the built can be higher end (although price currently really isn't that high, so accordingly...), and with the V1 and some V2 (ones made in Taiwan) there are no replacement caps (I take alternate button caps off so I can distinguish between the buttons without looking anyway). For the low cost that these guys go at, it's really a no brainer if you're married to your computer for work.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

One of the most useful things I own as a graphic designer
Have owned one for 6 years - was originally a gift from a friend with an audio/video studio. I have used it extensively for years and just ordered another one for a new second workstation. Application specific programmable keys are excellent for the full suite of Adobe apps. And added with the Macro feature I can automate tasks in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and even the file manager. It makes repetitive tasks a snap. Great tool for editing video (final cut pro)
I'm using this to edit on Final Cut Pro and I was quickly able to map the buttons in a sensible way for the button I use most, and it has increased my speed tremendously.
