Great waterproof black ink for drawing with dip pens
I bought this ink after recommendation from a successful illustrator. It works well with my Zebra G Nib in a generic dip pen holder. I use it for inking sketches. The ink is relatively thick and can handle a large amount of flex from the G Nibs without railroading. Flexed wider lines do lay down a lot more ink though, which may mean long dry time, or some ink blotting to soak up the excess ink on top. It is a good strong dark black ink, dries quite quickly (only except when I put down too much ink), and is waterproof and alcohol marker proof from what I can tell. This means it's great for inking then colouring with light watercolours, or alcohol markers like copics. I have been using it on thin zeta paper, and it holds well when erasing pencil marks. So far no noticeable feathering and relatively little bleed through. The ink seems to hold to the nib well and flows well. Because it is fast drying I have found it can begin to dry and gum up on the nib after extended use, but cleaning the nib with water and a paper towel before dipping again for new ink is quick and easy. I recommend other artists try this ink, as well as dip pen calligraphers who want fast drying waterproof black.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Deep Black Waterproof Ink Resists Markers and Erasers
I draw with brush and steel-point pen, then color the drawing with alcohol-based markers. I've had a hard time finding an ink that is deep black, resists erasing, and won't be lifted/smeared by markers. I tried Deleter Black 4 after reading online reviews. I'm very pleased. This waterproof ink dries to a smooth, dense matte black. There is no sheen. It flows easily from both brush and pen. The ink stands up well to both plastic and kneaded erasers. 95% of the time alcohol-based markers won't lift it. However I've found that when I use a croquill pen I need to give the ink time to "set" after it dries to the touch. If I color too soon the ink smears slightly. It's a small bottle but the price is reasonable for what you get. I do wish it came in larger sizes. By the way there are numerous Deleter manga inks and each has very different characteristics. Deleter 4 is really stable.
If you're looking for an ink for washes and is water soluble, move along. Black 4 is not meant for that. I use this specifically for lining and areas that need to be the blackest black. This one goes on smooth, dries fast. I most frequently use a brush for line art, and this ink's staying power is quite impressive. One dip lasts quite some time, and even super fine lines will be perfectly black. That said, if you're used to India inks and watery inks, this one is a bit of a learning curve. It's really thick, and it dries fast. It's a bit unforgiving if you let it dry on your brush or nib, but normal soap and cool water will clean those right off.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
