When you really need a single-slot video card
OK, in all fairness, I can understand why it’s overpriced. It’s a specialty item. In fact, it’s the ONLY single slot GTX 1050 Ti card that I could find, and it was my only viable option given the case and motherboard I had to work with. I expected to pay more when I purchased it. The card does indeed require only one PCI-E x16 slot, and unlike ”OC” or “SC” GTX 1050 Ti cards. No separate power supply connector is needed.
My problems with the card are: a.) it performs 10-20% slower than any standard other two-slot GTX 1050 Ti that I’ve tested, and b.) the small, single, spinning fan always spins (even at idle) and is loud.
I suppose that the the negatives are to be expected, however, because the card is a nonstandard item. And again, if you need a real gaming card that requires only the space of a single-slot card, at least this one is available. I am keeping the card and I’m happy that I found it for this build.
If you need a card like this one, well... you need it. Just be aware of what you’re getting and adjust your expectations accordingly.
