My search for great bands is essentially motivated by curiosity. As a consequence, superb but unheralded groups like Kak occasionally find their way into my CD player. This band is arguably on par with "names" of the era, such as Moby Grape or Quicksilver Messenger Service. You be the judge. At any rate, Kak's bluesy, jamin', guitar-driven psych rock hits my personal bullseye and so does Gary Lee Yoder's vocals (Yoder came from Oxford Circle as did Dehner Patton. The former eventually moved on to a later version of Blue Cheer). I especially enjoyed Everything's Changing and Electric Sailor, though nothing here, psych rock or not, disappointed. The original album is fleshed out with a slew of bonus tracks. No text. Eleven-page booklet.
