As an example of what de Souza Santos calls Sociology of Emergence, this project offers a counter-narrative to the negative portrayals of migrants as criminals or free-riders, and rather demonstrates the power of their determination, re-values their human dignity, and celebrates their contribution to society. The bilingual book features full-color photos by and about participants and their settings, as well as excerpts of their stories, in English and Spanish.
