    Lug Crimper works great!

I have tried to crimp my 2AWG cable into a lug 3 different ways, putting it in a vise, hitting with a large hammer, and putting it is a 1-ton arbor press. The hammer blow method is my least favorite. You need a lot more than just the normal 16oz framing hammer. I used a 4lb mini sledge (I think that's what it's called). You have to make sure you get a sufficent blow the first time, or everything pops loose and you have to hope the first blow was at least hard enough to hold the wire in place so you can hit it again. The arbor press method works good enough if you have a piece of steel to span the opening in the base of the press. You also have to make sure the press is secured so it doesn't "tip" on you when you lower the handle. So my favorite way is using a vice. I put the lug in the crimper and then line it up in the vise. Then I put the cable in the lug and tighten the vise. You can "test pull" on the cable to make sure it is secure. So far, I haven't run into any "bad or cons" about the item

  • Top critical review

Better than wrong crimper but not as good as the correct crimper

Shaft was loose at bottom half. I tightened it with heavy hammer blows. Works better than a the wrong crimping tool for multiple sizes, but my mechanic was able to pull cable out of my cheap thin copper 4AWG terminal. He used the OEM Club Car terminals (thicker) and the right crimp tool. I will try again with ClubCar terminals with split at crimp which may compress with more PSI.

  • "Smaller than you think, but really packs a punch. "

At first I thought this little tool was not going to be up to par. It is super small at about 4 inches tall! Boy was I wrong. This little guy really packs a punch and is very easy to use. I used a small sledge hammer to make quick work of the pounding. You get a lug of your choice not smaller than 8AWG, place it in the anvil slot below the steel block, place your stripped wire in the lug, then smash it with your hammer. You'll know when you got a good crimp. It will feel solid and you're done. It is not practical to use it in the engine bay per say, but it makes quick work on the bench. I totally recommend it. Plus it comes with a 1 year no questions asked warranty card. Great tool.

  • awesome tool

TEMco crimper , works great ( also you can watch you tube tests ) . This has a many great features , spring loaded , mountable , good paint , good fitting parts , good price & TEMco stands behind ALL their products with a good warranty and great customer service I bought this in case my big china crimpers don't work ( plus this takes up no space in the drawer ) what happened is my big china crimp pliers don't have a die for certain size wire and this locks the wire down it works very well , all I probably need is this and if my big china pliers break this is all I will have and that's fine because I think this will last forever , and work forever !

  • Easy to use, professional results.

This Cable Crimper works great! It produces professional looking crimps and is easy to use. I use it in my press as I don't want to beat the thing with a hammer. The only down side is the "stop scale" is a bit difficult to read.

  • Very well made, Solid tool, heavy duty and easy to use!

Very good solid tool and well made. More heavy duty than expected. I used this to crimp my wiring to connect my battery bank together for the solar set up. Worked very well and easy to use. Made a good tight connection. Would recommend this tool.

  • Best Way to Crimp Big Wire Terminals

To properly crimp battery terminals for wire with gauge bigger than 6 or 8 AWG, you need this tool. It securely holds the terminal and wire in place. The tricky step is hitting the tool with a big sledge hammer - you really need something like a 3-6 lbs. hammer - a ball pen or framing hammer just doesn't work. I put the tool in a big vice, clamp it down, and get the terminal lug and wire place - and WHAM. The crimp is perfectly centered and tight. I will often time also solder the exposed wire, then put a shrink wrap around the terminal. Very professional looking crimp.

  • Solid. Works exactly as described.

Incredible little gizmo. Thought I was going to have to buy an expensive hydraulic crimper to terminate 1/0 awg welding cable. Not so fast! This thing made tight crimps with only a handful of whacks with a hammer! Didn't deform the lug either. It's very solid and has some weight to it. Takes a slight learning curve to hold everything still when hammering, but not much. I had it down after the first lug! So far I have used it to crimp around 10 cable lugs without any trouble at all. The hammering has chipped the finish on the top, but that was expected. All-in-all a great product! Zero complaints. Definitely recommend this product to anyone that needs to crimp a handful of cable lugs. Could get tedious if trying to use it daily though....

  • GREAT BANG FOR YOUR BUCK...

I got tired of soldering terminals on custom made battery cables so I purchased this tool. The shipping was very fast, the packaging was good and the tool is well made. I've already made several cables with 1/0 cable and the tool worked flawlessly. I highly recommend it. BTW, it comes with a 1 YEAR NO BS WARRANTY! If you don't like it for any reason, send it back for a full refund, including shipping. These days, that means something...
